Seit dem 01.01.2024 nimmt die Universität Siegen an den DEAL-Verträgen mit den Verlagen Elsevier, Springer Nature und Wiley teil. Diese transformativen „Publish and Read“ -Verträge bieten für die Jahre 2024 – 2028 zwei wesentliche Komponenten: die zentrale Kostenübernahme für die Open-Access-Publikationen von Autor*innen der Universität Siegen und Lesezugriffe auf die Zeitschriftenportfolios der Verlage:
- Elsevier: Lesezugriff auf fast das gesamte Zeitschriftenportfolio über ScienceDirect. Publikation von Open-Access-Artikeln in ca. 2.500 Elsevier-Hybridzeitschriften inklusive der Zeitschriften von Cell Press und The Lancet, 20 % Rabatt auf die Publikationsgebühren für Gold-Open-Access-Zeitschriften von Elsevier und 15 % Rabatt auf die Gebühren der Gold-Open-Access-Zeitschriften von Cell Press und The Lancet.
- Springer Nature: Lesezugriff auf fast das gesamte Zeitschriftenportfolio über SpringerLink. Publikation von Open-Access-Artikeln in ca. 2.000 Springer Nature-Hybridzeitschriften („Open Choice“ Option), 20 % Rabatt auf die Publikationsgebühren in über 500 Gold-Open-Access-Zeitschriften der Marken SpringerOpen und BioMed Central.
- Wiley: Lesezugriff auf fast das gesamte Zeitschriftenportfolio, über die Wiley online library. Publikation von Open-Access-Artikeln in ca. 1.300 Wiley-Hybridzeitschriften (Wiley „Hybrid Open Access“ Option), 20 % Rabatt auf die Publikationsgebühren in ca. 600 Gold-Open-Access-Zeitschriften von Wiley.
Voraussetzungen und Vorgehen zur Open-Access-Publikation über die DEAL-Verträge:
- Sie sind Mitglied der USi und als corresponding author für die Kommunikation mit dem Verlag verantwortlich.
- Im Publikationssprozess wählen Sie als Affiliation die USi aus der angebotenen Liste aus und verwenden eine persönliche E-Mail-Adresse der USi (bspw. vorname.nachname@uni-siegen.de). Für die Affiliationsangaben gelten die Vorgaben der jeweils gültigen Publikationsrichtline der USi.
- Der Verlag schickt eine Verifikationsanfrage zur Bestätigung Ihrer Affiliation an die UB.
Hybridzeitschriften: Wird die Affiliation bestätigt, werden die Publikationsgebühren von der UB zentral übernommen, Sie bekommen keine Rechnung.
Gold OA-Zeitschriften: Wird die Affiliation bestätigt, übernimmt die UB die Rechnungsabwicklung und fördert über den Open-Access-Publikationsfonds einen Teil der Kosten. Für den verbleibenden Anteil benötigt die UB die Angabe Ihrer Kostenstelle bzw. das PSP-Element. Bitte kontaktieren Sie in diesem Fall unbedingt das Open-Access-Team: oa@ub.uni-siegen.de. - Sie wählen eine Lizenz aus, empfohlen wird „CC-BY“, um die bestmögliche Verbreitung und Nachnutzbarkeit Ihres Artikels bei Nennung der Autorenschaft zu gewährleisten.
- Sie schließen den Publikationsprozess ab (Vorgehen verlagsabhängig) und Ihr Artikel erscheint im Open Access.

Since January 1, 2024 the University of Siegen has been participating in the DEAL contracts with the publishers Elsevier, Springer Nature and Wiley. These transformative „publish and read“-contracts offer two essential components for the years 2024 – 2028: read access to the publishers‘ journal portfolios and centralized cost coverage of the Open Access publications of authors from the University of Siegen:
- Elsevier: Read access to almost the complete journal portfolio via ScienceDirect. Publication of Open Access articles in about 2.500 Elsevier subscription journals including the journals from Cell Press and The Lancet, 20 % discount on the publication charges of Gold Open Access journals from Elsevier and 15 % discount on the charges of Gold Open Access journals from Cell Press and The Lancet.
- Springer Nature: Read access to almost the complete journal portfolio via SpringerLink. Publication of Open Access articles in about 2.000 Springer Nature subscription journals („Open Choice“-option), 20 % discount on the publication charges of more than 500 Gold Open Access journals from SpringerOpen und BioMed Central.
- Wiley: Read access to almost the complete journal portfolio via the Wiley online library. Publication of Open Access articles in about 1.300 Wiley subscription journals (Wiley „Hybrid Open Access“ option), 20 % discount on the publication charges of about 600 Gold Open Access journals from Wiley.
Requirements and procedure for open access publication via the DEAL contracts:
- You are member of the University of Siegen and as corresponding author responsible for the communication with the publisher.
- In the publication process you choose the University of Siegen as your affiliation from the list und use a personal e-mail address of the University (e.g. “surname.name@uni-siegen.de„). Affiliation information is subject to the provisions of the applicable Publication Guideline of the USi.
- The publisher will send a request for verification of your affiliation to the University Library.
Subscription journals: If the affiliation will be confirmed, the publication charges will be covered centralized by the University Library, you will not receive an invoice.
Gold OA journals: If the affiliation will be confirmed, the University Library will take over the invoice processing, and will support part of the costs via the Open Access Publication Funds. For the remaining part the University Library needs your “Kostenstelle“ or PSP-Element. In this case please contact the Open-Access-Team: oa@ub.uni-siegen.de. - You choose a licence, recommended is „CC-BY“ to ensure the best possible dissemination and reusability of your article with attribution of the authorship.
- You finish the publication process (procedure depends on publisher) and your article will be published Open Access.
